How to Install Prestige Pleated & Venetian Blinds

  • When you first inspect your new blind please remember that as per the measuring instructions we will deduct 4mm from the width of the blind. This is to allow for free movement of the blind and is essential to the blinds operation. The side channels will compensate for the 4mm deduction.

Step 1 - Fit the brackets.

Fitting your Prestige blind couldn’t be easier...
Place the metal L-shaped bracket flat against the glass, push it towards the window frame ensuring it slides freely under the gasket, and do this for each corner.
Top Tip - A little dab of washing-up liquid can sometimes assist with this. Just be careful to make sure you clean any excess so not to mark the blinds.

Step 2 - Apply Side Profiles.

Position the strip so that the cutouts go either side of the brackets. Ensure it is positioned on the glass and tight up against the gasket (but not on the gasket). If this is not tight up against the gasket, it won’t impede the operation of the blind, but you may see the light bleeding around the edge of the window.

Please note: This strip should be fixed to the glass only once, and it is not designed to be removed and refitted multiple times. Therefore we recommend positioning the adhesive strip to the lugs prior to taking the backing tape off. Replacement strips can be purchased if required.

Step 3 - Install the Blind.

Align the head rail so that the brackets meet the slots on the back of the plastic end caps on the head rail. Push the head rail into place, ensuring it is securely attached to the brackets. Repeat this for the bottom bar. The spring under the bottom bar needs to be in the centre. The cords are intentionally long and should be tucked under the bottom bar. Do not cut them, they can help with tension adjustment if required.

    How to operate the blind

Attach the plastic wand by hooking the wand onto the tilt mechanism on the venetian blind. Twist the wand to open and close the slats.

    Troubleshooting

Our Prestige blinds function through tension in the cords, and this tension holds the fabric. All blinds come pre-tensioned, and you shouldn’t need to adjust it, but if you find that the fabric/slats aren’t being held in place and are dropping, you will need to adjust the tension.
To do this, locate the spring and cord held in the bottom bar. Use a pen to mark the cord close to the metal clamp with 2 screws. This will indicate how much you have adjusted the tension and allow you to reset it if you go too far.
Undo the screws and either increase or decrease the tension by 1 cm. Tighten the screw and check the blind and repeat as necessary. If the blind becomes too stiff to use, you have over-tensioned and need to release a small amount back.
